2018 KIA SOUL & 2018 KIA SPORTAGE EARN HIGHEST POSSIBLE SAFETY RATING FROM IIHS

November 9th, 2017 by

Both the 2018 Kia Soul and 2018 Kia Sportage earned The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS’s) best rating possible, Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+). New, available headlights offered on both the 2018 Soul and 2018 Sportage helped both models achieve the IIHS’s best available rating.

Kia’s Iconic Urban Passenger Vehicle, the Kia Soul, earned the coveted accolade when equipped with high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights – offered on the Primo Lit package. Kia’s Stylish Compact Crossover, the Kia Sportage, earned the award when equipped with newly acceptable-rated HID headlights that are standard on the SX Turbo trim.
Apart from receiving the TSP+ rating, both the 2018 and 2018 Sportage receive good ratings in all five IIHS crashworthiness tests and a superior rating for optional front crash prevention. To qualify for TSP+, the IIHS testing parameters require a vehicle earn “good” ratings in five crashworthiness tests; as well as an “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash prevention and an “acceptable” or “good” rating in headlight testing.

Kia’s world-class lineup of sedans and SUVs continue to earn safety, reliability, and quality awards at an increasing rate. The Soul and Sportage’s newest achievement comes after Kia’s dominating performance in J.D. Power’s 2017 Initial Quality Study. The Soul and Sportage join four other Kia vehicles that have received the TSP+ rating from IIHS; including the Kia Sorento, Kia Cadenza, Kia Optima, and Kia Forte.
