While final horsepower figures are subject to change pending internal testing, Kia estimates the EV9 GT will achieve a 0-60 MPH time of just 4.3 seconds, compared to the EV9 GT-Line’s 5.0 seconds. To ensure confident stopping power, the EV9 GT features upgraded brakes with exclusive GT-branded front calipers.

Balancing this impressive power is an advanced, driver-selectable Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS)—a first for a Kia three-row SUV. Accessible via the Drive Mode button on the steering wheel, drivers can choose between Normal, Eco, Sport, and My Drive modes, each fine-tuning shock damping, steering, and brake response to suit conditions or preferences. For maximum performance, pressing the vibrant green GT button on the steering wheel hub engages GT mode, setting shock damping to its firmest configuration. Despite its high-performance focus, the EV9 GT retains the 7.8 inches of ground clearance and 5,000-pound towing capacity found on select EV9 trims.

PERFORMANCE FEATURES

The EV9 GT embraces its performance focus with exclusive Virtual Gear Shift (VGS), simulating the feel of a traditional automatic transmission with noticeable “shifts” during acceleration and the ability to manually shift using steering wheel paddles. Complementing this feature, in-cabin Active Sound Design (e-ASD) enhances the driving experience by replicating gear shift sounds. For added cornering stability, the EV9 GT is equipped with an electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD), which manages torque distribution to optimize grip. It also retains the EV9 lineup’s standard 800-volt fast charging architecture, enabling a 10-80% charge in under 25 minutes with DC fast chargers. Starting in 2025, all EV9 models will feature the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, granting access to over 35,000 DC fast chargers nationwide.

TECHNOLOGY

The EV9 GT comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of standard advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Parking Collision Avoidance Assist (PCA) for the front, sides, and rear. This system detects potential collisions with pedestrians or objects during parking and can automatically apply emergency braking in certain situations. Additionally, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 (FCA 2) with Car, Cyclist, and Pedestrian Detection includes Evasive Steering Assist to provide steering input when a potential collision is detected. Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control-Curve (N-SCC-C) adjusts braking to maintain a preset speed through turns when Smart Cruise Control is engaged.
