Kia Ranks Number One Among Mass-Market Brands, for Fourth Consecutive Year, On Quality Study

June 20th, 2018 by

For the fourth consecutive year, Kia has ranked number-one, among mass-market brands, on J.D. Power’s annual Initial Quality Study (IQS). The J.D. Power IQS is a quality-based study that tracks the number of problems reported per 100 vehicles over the first 90 days of ownership, on new vehicles only.

In 2016 and 2017 Kia ranked number-one among all automakers. For 2018, Kia got knocked off its perch, from the number one spot to the number two spot – beaten only by its sister company, Genesis. However, with only 72 problems reported per 100 vehicles, Kia remained the number-one mass market auto brands.

J.D. Power breaks the 2018 Initial Quality Study down by vehicle segments. Kia had two 2018 models that took the highest-ranked spot, among their respected segments. The 2018 Kia Sorento took the crown among the Midsize SUV segment, while the 2018 Kia Rio claimed the highest-rank among the Small Car segment.

The 2018 Kia Forte [Compact Car segment], 2018 Kia Optima [Midsize Car segment], 2018 Kia Sedona [Minivan segment], 2018 Kia Sportage [Large Premium Car Small SUV segment], all scored among the top three in their respected segments.

Ferguson Kia, serving the Tulsa Metro, has both the 2018 Kia Rio [the 2018 J.D. Power IQS Small Car segment winner] and the 2018 Kia Sorento [the 2018 J.D. Power IQS Midsize SUV segment winner], along with the entire new Kia model line-up. Ferguson Kia is Oklahoma’s longest established Kia dealer. No one, in Oklahoma, knows Kia better than Ferguson Kia!
